What is Pantoprazole?
Pantoprazole is an anti-ulcer medication that reduces stomach acid production. This is designed to treat conditions such as acid reflux, heartburn, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pantoprazole is available in both tablet and liquid formulations. Pantoprazole is only available by prescription. Pantoprazole 20 mg tablets are available over-the-counter at pharmacies for the treatment of acid reflux and heartburn. How Does Pantoprazole Work?
Pantoprazole is an anti-ulcer medication. It is classified as a PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor), which prevents the production of excess stomach acid. Ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, GERD, and hyperacidity are treated with PPIs. Pantoprazole, like other proton pump inhibitors, works by inhibiting the enzymes in the stomach lining that produce acid. By effectively inhibiting these enzymes, acid production is drastically reduced, allowing the esophagus and stomach to heal. Pantoprazole is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) that inhibits acid-producing cells in the stomach. It aids in lowering acid levels in the stomach and prevents the painful symptoms associated with GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. What Are the Advantages of Taking Pantoprazole?
Pantoprazole is available as an oral tablet, a liquid suspension, and an intravenous (IV) drug that can be administered intravenously by a nurse or medical professional. Pantoprazole is primarily prescribed to reduce the amount of stomach acid in the body. It helps treat painful conditions like ulcers, too much acid in the stomach, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and others.Buy Pantoprazole: How Do I Use?
Pantoprazole can be taken with or without food. Take the medication as prescribed by your physician, pharmacist, or nurse. Take Pantoprazole at the same time daily for optimal results. Avoid breaking, cutting, chewing, or crushing the Pantoprazole tablet. Follow the liquid suspension dosage instructions precisely. Always consult a medical professional or physician before administering Pantoprazole IV suspension.Pantoprazole Dosing
Oral tablets of pantoprazole contain between 20 and 40 milligrams. To effectively treat stomach ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, GERD, and hyperacidity, adhere to your doctor's dosage instructions. Avoid using excessively low or high doses. Before taking any medication, you should talk to your doctor. Adults 18 years of age and older with duodenal ulcers should take 15 milligrams once daily for the next four weeks. For the next eight weeks, the recommended dosage for patients with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) is 15 milligrams once daily. Patients who intend to use Pantoprazole for chronic GERD or duodenal ulcer maintenance should take one 15-mg tablet daily for eight weeks. Patients over the age of 18 who are seeking treatment for gastric ulcer and severe esophagitis should take 30 milligrams daily for four to eight weeks. The recommended dosage for treating Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome in patients 18 years of age and older is 60 milligrams per day. This dosage will eventually be adjusted based on the patient's medical response. In some instances, it is recommended that patients with Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome take 180 milligrams of Pantoprazole tablet. Patients who cannot take Pantoprazole tablets orally may administer the medication intravenously. The intravenous dosage of Pantoprazole prescribed is 30 milligrams per day for seven days. If your condition does not improve or worsens while taking Pantoprazole, inform your nurse, prescriber, or pharmacist immediately. Never stop taking the medication without your doctor's approval.Precautions and Side Effects
As with other PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) medications, Pantoprazole has its share of side effects. However, not everyone is able to obtain them.
